5th Grade Summer Reading List
Summer Reading for Fifth Grade
Every student is required to read two books over the summer. The book, The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate is required for every student to read. Then choose your second book to read for the cereal box project. You may not do your cereal box project over The One and Only Ivan. Attached is a list of recommended reading for fifth grade.
Cereal Box Summary Project
Project is due Friday August 25
Directions for project
Cover a cereal box with paper and decorate according to the book you chose. On the front make up a cereal name that is relevant to your book. On the back provide a summary of your book including main characters, plot, setting, and conflict/resolution. Make sure you include information about the author of your book. On the top, sides, and bottom create information that tell about the book you read. You may do advertisements or games about your story or more information about the characters. You may use a real cereal box as a guide to help you decide what to put on your project. Please include a summary of your book on the cereal box in your own words. Also, include the following information on your project: Who are the main characters? What is the plot and setting for your book? Include the conflict/resolution for your book on your project. Everyone will present their project to the class. Have fun reading this summer!
