Kindergarten
In addition to adhering to the Texas guidelines for kindergarten, we also follow the requirements set forth in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s curriculum guide, Integrating the Faith.
Religion instruction follows Concordia Publishing Houses’ One in Christ. We explore God’s word through Bible stories, crafts, prayer, song, and memory work. God’s gospel and law are applied in our everyday words, actions and overall being in the classroom and world around us.
Reading, Phonics, Language Arts and Writing are encouraged by learning letters and sight words; blending sounds together to understand that letters and sounds create a word. The concepts are learned through Abrams & Company’s The Land of the Letter People and Handwriting without Tears.
Using Saxon Math 21 counting, ordering, comparing numbers, knowledge of shapes, learning about our monetary system, graphing and readiness for addition and subtraction students are well equipped for first grade.
In Social Studies we learn how people learn and work together in a community, recognition and understanding of signs and laws, knowledge and use of all types of maps and recognition of cultural differences.
In Science we learn about our health, nutrition and interaction with the world as created by God.
Spanish, Computer skills, Music, Art and P. E. round out the Kindergarten experience.
