Dear parents,
What do you think when you hear the word "competition"? For some of us it reminds us of our high school athletic days. For others it brings to mind that reality TV show featuring moms arguing over their daughters' dancing success. Certainly competition has its positive and negative aspects. We've all heard of (or maybe even seen) the dad who berates his son for striking out. On the other hand, we all know of many cases of young people who have experienced tremendous personal maturity through competition. Ideally we cooperate in order to compete against another team or group. This is true in baseball or in business. Certainly both cooperation and competition are important parts of life. As parents we need to teach and encourage our children how to cooperate with other team members in order to compete with other teams or businesses. Those who successfully learn the lessons of cooperation and competition now will be the leaders. At Epiphany a big part of our mission is to build leaders for the future. This means a well-rounded education that is academic, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Thanks for allowing us to be your partners in the growth of your children. Blessings on your parenting, Tim Miesner Principal
